At Absolution, we've long understood that there's no point in trying to fight the passing of time, and that any promises of eternal youth will never be fulfilled. That's why it's much more accurate to describe our "anti-aging" products as "pro-aging" skincare. They're designed to target the concerns of mature skin through gentle, effective, natural, certified-organic active ingredients. These products aim to help you look more kindly at yourself, and to see the beauty in your skin, regardless of your age.

Understanding your skin's aging process

Understanding the condition and physiological functioning of the skin at every stage in your life will enable you to have a better understanding of its needs – and to provide it with formulas that address them perfectly.

As we get older, skin cell regeneration slows down. But aging isn't the only reason. Other factors, such as lifestyle (diet, personal hygiene, alcohol, smoking, etc.), the environment, or even simply your genetic background, can be behind the natural signs of aging, which appear from as young as 30 years old.

From the age of 30, you may start to notice those first fine lines, usually around the eyes or on the forehead. The skin starts to lose collagen and becomes thinner, making it more sensitive to environmental aggressors – and more prone to expression lines.

The aging process gradually and naturally affects the skin's ability to bounce back and recover. The dermis – a deeper skin layer that lies below the epidermis – loses its ability to hold in moisture. There's also a reduction in the production of fibers that give skin its plumpness and elasticity. The sebaceous glands secrete less sebum, which explains why the skin often becomes drier with age. For women, these problems are exacerbated by the onset of menopause, when there's a drop in the production of estrogens – hormones that play a key role in skin hydration and suppleness. Blood supply to the skin is impaired, causing it to become paler. And the skin generally loses its ability to act as a barrier that protects the body against external stressors.

Your skin needs

At Absolution, rather than trying to do everything in our power to combat the signs of aging, we've decided to take care of your skin by giving it all the hydration and vitamins it needs so it's better able to repair itself and cope with everything life throws at it! This is why all our pro-aging skincare products contain cosmetic active ingredients that can fight the effects of skin aging: antioxidants to prevent the natural oxidation of skin cells; botanical oils to stimulate and repair; and ingredients that ensure good cellular cohesion, helping to prevent insensible water loss and the loss of lipids, such as Aloe Vera and Centella Asiatica (the latter is known to promote collagen synthesis).

Finally, an effective pro-aging skincare product must also contain active ingredients that work to restore density and lift the skin, and that are able to act on skin thickness, suppleness and firmness, while also reducing the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots. These include ingredients like Pomegranate, which helps to smooth out and firm; Poet's Narcissus, which helps to fade dark spots; hydrating Hyaluronic Acid; and Magnesium – a natural anti-stress mineral that inhibits muscle micro-contractions, thus helping to smooth wrinkles and fine lines.
